Quadrent Four of Stephen R Covey's Time Management Matrix is Waste: activities that have no deadlines and don't contribute to goals.
An activity can fall into different quadrants at different times. A meeting can be either an important step in accomplishing a task or a complete waste of time. The same can be said of email or phone calls. When we are low on energy, we may need a break or to spend time on mindless activities. But sometimes we need to know when to stop.
Know when you're at the point of low returns or NO returns! Is this the best use of my time right now? Am I avoiding something else I should be doing? Is this contributing to my goals?
